Mackie Mallison is a mixed American Japanese filmmaker living in Brooklyn, NY.

Named one of Filmmaker Magazine’s “25 New Faces of Independent Film” in 2023, Mackie is a current member of the Brooklyn Filmmakers Collective, Video Consortium, and a recipient of the Adobe Creativity Scholarship with a BFA in Film at Pratt Institute. His work has been screened in venues across the world including New York Film Festival at Lincoln Center, SXSW, BAM, DOC NYC, SIFF, and BFI London Film Festival. In his practice, he often explores the unraveling of memory, family, intersections of class, cross-generational binds, and his personal relationships with them.

Wondering what Mackie is up to? He is probably in the kitchen working on his famous guakiyaki (guacamole + teriyaki).
